Park Operations Partnership Model
Waterfront Park is operated by the City of Seattle, with Seattle Center as the lead operating department in partnership with our non-profit partner, Friends of Waterfront Park. The City provides maintenance, including landscaping, and public safety while Friends provides programming and activation, and social service outreach and engagement.
Waterfront Park and Public Spaces
1. Pier 62 and Floating Dock
The City rebuilt Pier 62 and was the first portion of the new waterfront park to open to the public in 2020.
2. Pier 58 (Formerly known as Waterfront Park)
A new public space that features the Fitzgerald water fountain, jellyfish playground, open space and turf lawn.
3. Alaskan Way East and Union Street
The eastern portion of the park that connects the central waterfront to the downtown core between King and Pike Street. Union street provides a pedestrian bridge and elevator for greater accessibility.
4. Waterfront Park Promenade
The Waterfront Park Promenade from King to Pier 62 features several park features including benches, bike racks, water fountains, a boardwalk, art installations and swings. Pioneer Square beach is nestled at the end of Pioneer Square along with the restored Washington Street Boat Landing, which will feature Molly Moon’s ice cream.
5. Railroad Way Plazas
The RR plazas connect the stadium district to the waterfront and downtown through programming and activation, not only on game and event days, but on a daily basis.
6. Overlook Walk
This elevated structure provides a scenic space to enjoy the states breathtaking views of the mountains and Puget sound. With a pathway, playground, café, and bench seating featured.
